When you want to dress up your usual office attire, simply resort to the basics of black and white; it’s the easiest way to exude a touch of class in the most simplistic of ways. Add some bold accessories and some bright nail polish (and/or lipstick!) to keep it from being too “blah” and more along the lines of “ooh-la-la!” Happy Monday! :-)

I mentioned in the latest SimplyChic post my urge to ditch my winter wardrobe and dive into the vivid colors that spring fashion naturally brings. Since there is still snow on the ground here in Minnesota, I can’t exactly pack away my over-sized sweaters and wool socks just yet…wah, wah, wahhh. I’ve made the compromise to continue to sport my warm-weather gear but slowly adding a hint of spring into the mix at the same time. Pops of color and bold patterns [in small doses] creates an ideal balance. Fun-colored tights, bright nail polish, and floral accessories is an easy way to make a smooth transition into next season’s trends. Now my only question is… can it be spring already?!

You know you’re wearing mom jeans when they just about surpass your belly button and have the word “spandex” on the tag. (Or can I just call them high-waisted jeggings and you can forget I ever said anything about owning mom jeans). Regardless, these jeans are by far one of the most comfortable pair I own so I will continue to sport them proudly! May I add that they also make for great holiday get-together pants as an excuse to eat copious amounts of food, not that I would ever do that…
On another note, I was smitten when I recently came across these metallic gold ballerina-inspired flats for a mere $12 (orig. $40) at the Gap! A bit of gold is a fun and easy way to glam up any ensemble this time of year.

Who says shorts are just for summer? If you have a pair of high-waisted or paperbag-style shorts, simply layer them over some tights or leggings for a fun look this winter! To elongate legs, wear the same colored heels as your tights. *See my original inspiration for this outfit here.

Hey everyone! TGIF right?! :)
This outfit showcases one of my new fave color combos – neutral tones consisting of nude, champagne, gray and gold. To me, these colors manage to exude a classy and chic vibe (see an interior design version here). And speaking of chic, keep in mind the title of my blog, “simply chic for cheap“ – a name that came from my love for creating ensembles that might appear as though they cost big bucks, when they’re actually fractions less than the average person could imagine… because as I always say, high style doesn’t have to come with a high price tag!
Keep it chic & have a fab weekend folks!
Until next time…
